Compatibility is not some fixed trait that stays the same; it exists on a spectrum, which helps us navigate alignment better.
It is more likely that two people can be compatible in one way and incompatible in another way.
The wisdom comes from seeing the interaction of these differences within an ecosystem and understanding the trade-offs.
Discernment in this way is not easy. A lot of times, we just give ourselves a simple conclusion about what compatibility should be, and this hinders us from understanding ourselves deeply. We hold an image of love and what a relationship should feel like.
The image itself is shaped by many forces that we aren’t aware of, and it becomes crucial to become more aware of them and deliberately design things.
If someone believes that love never hurts or creates friction, then they have no reason to stay when they face friction in a relationship. This doesn’t mean we should never leave because of friction, nor does it mean we should leave whenever friction arises.
This way, compatibility is not something we find but something we discover through unveiling ourselves. It requires trust, openness, and vulnerability to find genuine compatibility.
